What's new in version 1.4?

In Fred 1.4 we continued to enhance the browsing experience, extended the search capabilities and added permission settings.

Authentication & Security

• Security functionality has been extended

Handling folders

• Permission setting: permissions can be viewed and set by users having the appropriate rights
• Edit metadata: support of folder types and editing of metadata

Handling files

• Permission setting: permissions can be viewed and set by users having the appropriate rights
• Versioning: supporting minor and mayor versions and version comment
• Rename document: enhanced functionality

Handling Metadata

• Mandatory metadata are now marked with *
• Alfresco metadata values can be pushed into MS Office, Open Office and PDF documents metadata fields.

Search

• Advanced search capabilities have been extended allowing to search on multiple fields
• Appropriate fields for document type (tree), categories (tree), constrained lists (drop down)

Drag and Drop

• Dropping of files in the white space is now supported
• Dropping of multiple files has been enhanced

Navigation

• Breadcrumb: the folders path is now a drop- down menu, so you can easily jump from a folder to another

Monitoring and Support

• Help menu is redirected to the Fred manual available on the web site.
