Edit Metadata will open the window to edit the metadata field values. You can further detail the document type and/or add additional optional metadata groups. The steps are described in 10.2.9 "Adding a file".
alfresco compatibilityAlfresco compatibility: synchronisation of meta-data in Fred/Alfresco and documents is supported from Alfresco version 3.2 onwards.
You can write metadata from Alfresco to metadata fields in documents (MS office, Open office). Exchanging metadata of a document in Alfresco will change them in Fred too.
